The Wonders of Craigslist

What have YOU found on craigslist?
People say that you can find anything on the website craigslist.com. I might have to agree. It is a wonderful site for selling things that you think no one would ever want or looking for jobs that you would never have thought existed. The average user of the site probably goes on there to look for an apartment or sell a couch, but I have found some great job opportunities on it. As an actor, I am constantly looking for my next paycheck. I avoid "real jobs" like ones that involve a set schedule, office or ties. Okay, I wear a tie when I cater waiter, but it's only a $5.00 one that I bought off the street and it's covered in teriaki suace and and gold glitter. Don't ask. The point is that I got the cater waiter job off of craigslist. And I have had that job for almost two years. It may be the most normal job I found there.
My most recent employment via craigslist involved sewing. Someone was looking for a person who could make pillow covers for their bed and the ad said "can you sew?" Well, I have a sewing maching and I have made curtains, pillows and an Endora from Bewitched costume before. Don't ask. I figure I could probably do what she wanted for the $75. We emailed, we met, she drew up a plan and gave me some fabric and off I went. Of course the project turned into something way more difficult than I originally anticipated and when you break it down to an hourly wage, I was making just over that of a sweatshop laborer, but I did it. We have not found time to meet again yet, so my closet is full of pillows and I rue the day I ever picked up that cheap gaudy fabric at the Starbucks. The pillows turned out fine. Not great, but hey you get what you pay for. If she wanted a high quality pillow, maybe she should find someone other than craigslist. Jeez!
Another job I have currently is that of a recylcing container. I have a whole hub about that one and feel free to read it. Bottom line: they pay me a lot of money to dress in a trash can costume and wave to people. Look for me at the Rockefeller Christmas tee lighting and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Thank you craigslist!
By far, the most unusual job I have found on the wonder that is craigslist.com was that of butt model. The ad said "we need face and butt pix, $100". Okay, I have a face and a butt, why not? I sent my headshot off to them and waited to hear if they wanted me to come in for an interview. I still didn't know what it was for, but as long as it wasn't porn, I would do it. They called! Apparently my headshot was personable enough to make them want to take a picture of my butt. Turns out it was a new ad campaign for a toilet company. I went to the studio and they told me they would take a few pictures of my face and a few of my behind and then they would decide which ones would be used for the campaign. I would be given $100 for my time and if I was chosen I would receive another $500. No problem. I have been to nude beaches and been naked on stage before so this would be a piece of cake. Click, click, snap and I was off with my hundred bucks. Two months later, I received an email informing me that they picked my butt. Or maybe I should say my butt was chosen. My additional money was on the way and I could expect to see the ad around any time. Boy, was it ever! It's on their website, which I have linked below. It ened up in New Yorker magazine and then the cream of the butt, er crop, was when it eneded up on a billboard in Times Square. That's right, people, my ass is famous! Of course, no one knows it's me except for my friends and family and the fifteen people who will read this, but hey I feel like a superstar.
I have not been on craigslsit for a couple of weeks now and feel that I could be missing the opportunity of a life time. I have gotten a job selling pottery, and did some writing from craigslist, but is the next big job just waiting for me to find it? I must wrap up this story so I can immediatley focus on my next career defining job from the miracle of craigslist.com
- Clean is happy!
This is the oddest job I have found on craigslist. My butt is the third and the fifth one. I am a star!

Ha!Ha!Ha! Butt, where's the pic?? Show the ladies what you got!
That's pretty neat. Maybe I'll check out craigslist see what jobs are there.
craigslist rocks !!!
Cute!
I love Craigslist, but I wish the people who posted about free firewood would actually have cut it themselves first, rather than posting "Free Firewood" and then stating afterward that you have to come and chain-saw it yourself. :(
i like creativity in india not possible openly.
All sounds Crazy but made me curious about Craigslist.
I am just hoping that your friends and family don't make you the butt of their jokes this holiday season. I know it was a poor attempt at humor but i am not nearly as funny as this hub. Good job.
Darron, the more hubs I read of yours, the more alike I find we are! I find EVERYTHING on Craigslist. Furniture, jobs, roommates, apartments, writing gigs, supplies (and a playmate!) for my puppy, and probably more that I just can't even remember. Great hub. I think I'll write something about some of my own experiences on Craigslist. Nice butt, too! :)

I haven't been as creative as you; I got only ordinary work from Craigslist; nothing to write home about. But you are Daddy Starbutts!
